The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin

The Shelbourne Hotel is a timeless landmark in the heart of Dublin and it overlooks the city’s grandest square, St Stephen’s Green. The Shelbourne has for nearly two centuries, played a significant role in the literary, social, political, culinary and artistic traditions of Irish society. In 1922 the Irish constitution was drafted at The Shelbourne.

Griffin plastering was involved in the renovation of the Grand Stairs and 36 rooms/suites including the JFK Suite and the Princess Grace suite in The Shelbourne Hotel.

We had to use traditional lime plastering, lath and plaster, consolidate ceilings and crack repairs while carrying out this renovation. Griffin Plastering also supplied and fitted over One Kilometre of cornice for this phase of the project. There were many different sizes, profiles and shapes of cornice used to match existing historic cornices.
